Omega Chapters: Ava

Omega Chapters is a Blog series from your Alum sisters at Sigma Psi Sigma. Each month we'll celebrate WSU AXOs who faced a challenge, created a win, or just got out of bed on a difficult day. No toxic positivity allowed and no humble brags. Shameless brags are perfectly fine! The goal is to connect and inspire. This month we're focusing on how choices made earlier in your life can impact the future you

Lucky!

At first glance, some people might think the sister we cover this week is lucky.

Before she graduated this past May, Ava LaPorte landed a job that offers great training, exciting travel, a positive work environment, and opportunities to grow her personal and professional network.

After a highly competitive interview process, Ava earned the coveted role of an AXO Chapter Consultant.

But is she lucky? Describing Ava as "lucky" fails to acknowledge Ava's own strengths. I'll refrain from using the phrases I just looked up on Google like "She Slays!" or "She has main character energy!" but let's just say, Ava is a powerhouse. In short, she created multiple positive experiences over the years and nurtured the relationships that came from them. Although a touch of luck is wonderful, we also create our own paths, intentionally or not.

Pivotal experiences start early

Ava enthusiastically told me Greek life gave her everything she was promised. She thrived on the personal development opportunities, building confidence in who she is as a person, making lifelong friends, and - of course - having a great time. Go Cougs!

Her first leadership role was as the Chapter President in 2023 and followed up the next year as the VP, Recruitment Information for MC24. During her time in these leadership roles, Ava hosted some inspiring Chapter Consultants and hosted AXO HQ Leadership at the chapter house.

She immediately saw that these women exuded confidence, emotional intelligence, purpose, and joy. It was easy to build relationships with them and those relationships; in part, led to her becoming a Chapter Consultant.

Chapter 2025: Collegiate Consultant

Just a few weeks ago Ava was on site at one of our favorite collegiate chapters - University of Utah!

She provided some recruiting insights from her Omega experience and was uniquely prepared to talk about their Philo - The Lauren McCluskey Foundation.

In early 2025, Omega had the honor of Jill McCluskey speaking at the chapter house and sharing her story as well as the vision for LMF. Ava was front and center in the room listening intently to Jill’s message.

Coast to Coast

After University of Utah, Ava headed to the University of Southern California Alpha Chi chapter, and had a blast working side by side with the collegians during COB. She loves all flavors of recruitment. It’s her favorite thing to do!

While in Los Angeles, Ava connected with her Omega sister, Antonia Ventimiglia who drove up from San Diego and together they caught a USC football game.

Ava just finished up at USC and is now at the University of Rhode Island Alpha Chi chapter to provide support for their 2025 Recruitment. Good luck ladies! We know you are in good hands.

Congratulations Ava!

We are so proud of you!
