SPS Chapters: Diana Butch

New Blog Title!
It’s a new fiscal year and we have a new title for our blog series! We're changing our Blog Series title from Omega Chapters to SPS Chapters. In this series, we’re celebrating Sigma Psi Sigma members and their unique journeys through life.
Fun Fact: We have four SPS members who were not initiated at Omega.
We expect that number to grow as the infectious Coug energy that is Sigma Psi Sigma attracts alums who transferred to Omega as collegians (like Bell Hruiford) and as alums who were initiated at other chapters find their way to us - like today’s spotlight - the effervescent and unstoppable Diana Butch!

From SoCal to Salt Lake City
The lovely Sigma Psi Sigma member Diana Butch left sunny southern California and started college in 2019 at the University of Utah.
As we all know winter 2020 had some surprises and Diana found herself attending classes remotely in Spring 2021.
Craving girl time and sisters, she wisely chose to participate in Continuous Open Bidding through Zoom.
Motivated by the welcoming chapter president, affordable dues, and a supportive sisterhood, she officially joined the Beta Nu chapter and enjoyed a remote Bid Day.
Life in the Chapter House
In Fall 2021, Diana moved straight into the chapter house, perfectly situated on Greek Row just below the engineering campus.
Living with 21 sisters in a house without a personal chef created a tight-knit environment. Together, they cooked and ate big batch meals featuring Indian, Polish, and Jewish dishes.
As most people who head to University of Utah are outdoor enthusiasts, Diana has fond memories of skis lined up along the mudroom wall. Other fun recollections were group craft nights and devouring Real Housewives of Salt Lake City each week.
Career & Life in Pullman
With a last name like Butch is there really any other place that Diana would end up living and working than Pullman, WA?
Graduating in 2024, superstar Diana landed a job at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL). Following a full day of interviews in Pullman, she received a job offer just one week after graduation. Now approaching her two-year mark at SEL, Diana loves living in Pullman!
She finds Pullman to be filled with small town charm with the perks of a city. With no traffic, she’s free to explore the area and enjoys everything from hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, and more.
Diana loves that she lives in a place where kids ride their bikes unfettered and she’s surrounded by genuinely nice people.
And what about those sunsets?!

Alumnae Involvement
Diana has been an active member of the alumnae community as soon as she stepped foot in Pullman. She participated in the 2024 Hall of Commitment, sat at the 2025 AXO table at the Lauren McCluskey Foundation auction, she volunteered for packet pick-up and ran the 2025 Lauren McCluskey Foundation Race for Campus Safety, and participated in Work Week Love in 2025 and 2026.
She's made herself available to the collegians as well. When a collegian was hoping to get an interview at SEL, she provided insight into the company to help her strengthen her interview approach. In the future, she’s hoping to hold a STEM night at Omega to encourage science careers.
Diana Butch - We are proud to call you Sister!
