Omega Chapters is a Blog series from your Alum sisters at Sigma Psi Sigma. There are countless chapters we experience throughout our lives and sharing our experiences is a great way to relate to each other. To be clear: No toxic positivity allowed and no humble brags. Shameless brags are perfectly fine! The goal is to connect and inspire.

When your baby boy becomes a Coug football player

A little more than 18 years ago, Alyssa Morrisette and her husband welcomed their baby boy Barry.
Like many of us mamas, Alyssa embraced motherhood with both joy and a fierce protectiveness. This came in handy as Barry quickly showed his interest in sports. Big sports. Basketball and Football. Barry grew and grew and grew until he reached 6'8" tall and 230 lbs. But he is still her baby boy.
In a few days, Barry will graduate high school and two days later Alyssa and her husband will drive Barry to the Palouse where he will walk-on to the WSU Cougar Football camp.

This is a dream come true for this Cougar family but the empty nest tears are real. Even when dreams come true, the heartbreak of knowing that all of those years of being a high school football mom and a high school basketball mom obsessing about practice times, doctor appointments, games, and travel are now coming to an end. The community of parents; your friends, are now dispursing as they support their children in their next chapter.
A Lifetime at WSU
Barry went to his first Cougar football game when

he was 2 weeks old. He continued going to games every season and even made it into ESPN College Game Day. He was there for Doba, Wulff, Leach, and Dickert. Now he's there for Rogers. Go Cougs!
If you check out Barry's social media, you'll see that he's a DE/TE with a 3.75 GPA. Damn! Check out his highlight reel from Sammamish High School in Bellevue, WA. https://t.co/u9nJ7szWG2
On to the Palouse!
And as a native of Moscow, ID Alyssa takes comfort in knowing that Barry has family across the state line for instant support - be it meals or just a little TLC.
Alyssa is super excited to become a Coug football mom and all that it entails. She and her husband will go to every game and cheer on their favorite player. If we're lucky, Barry might just meet a nice Omega girl.

Love this update! Alyssa is a wonderful AXO sister, and as a Sammamish alum myself, I couldn’t be more thrilled for Barry and his proud Mama. Can’t wait to watch him in action this fall!
This is the best!
