The Sigma Psi Sigma, the WSU AXO Alumnae chapter, 2026-2027 membership campaign is going on now! Young Alum and Advisor memberships are only $20 and other memberships start at $40.

How does one go from being an 18 year old woman who graduated high school with no awareness of sorority life to becoming the President of her sorority to becoming a Sigma Psi Sigma Young Alum? That’s a question for the one and only Alexa Murphy MC21!
Alexa is one of the first 2026 Omega grads to become a Young Alum member this year and we couldn’t be more happy.
Sigma Psi Sigma has worked with Alexa both as the Omega chapter president as well as the Omega Alumnae Chair. Any time spent with Alexa is a time that will raise your mood and make your day better.
Her contagious energy and positivity was always a highlight and we’re thrilled she’s continuing her Real. Strong. Women. Experience with us!
Post-Grad

Alexa wasted no time charting her future after graduation.
Insatiably curious and always eager to learn, Alexa set her sights on a clinical PhD in Psychology. (Side Note: Thank you Alexa! We need your talents!).
She sought out Research Assistant roles in clinical research projects around Washington and landed a role in the Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience department at Washington State University.
She plans use this experience not only for learning but also to demonstrate her aptitude for working in clinical research settings. This experience with strengthen her future applications for PhD programs.
A New Job
And if that wasn’t enough to do, she also applied for the Community Outreach internship at the Lauren McCluskey Foundation. The hiring manager was very familiar with all of Alexa’s achievements. In fact she had recently proposed Alexa as a Top 10 Senior at WSU in part because of her work in supporting LMF as an Alpha Chi Omega. As soon as Linda was aware that Alexa was interested in the role; she hired her immediately.
Alexa was such a standout in the internship role that LMF created the role for her to stay on permanently.

Future Plans
In the Fall, Alexa will be applying to PhD programs around the Northwest. However, she believes that she’ll have a better chance at being accepted into a program once she’s completed a full gap year and had a full year working as a Research Assistant. Ever the planner, she’s using this year to get familiar with the process and to prepare for her 2027 application.
Why Become a Young Alum?
Alexa beamed enthusiasm at the prospect of becoming a Young Alum. “Why wouldn’t I want to stay connected?! I will praise joining a sorority until the day I die!” she shouted (nicely) through the speaker.
We are thrilled to provide a framework for Young Alums to stay connected and we can’t wait to support our sister as she continues to radiate her very own Alexa energy!
Alexa Murphy - we are proud to call you Sister!

Omega Chapters is a Blog series from your Alum sisters at Sigma Psi Sigma. There are countless chapters we experience throughout our lives and sharing our experiences is a great way to relate to each other. To be clear: No toxic positivity allowed and no humble brags. Shameless brags are perfectly fine! The goal is to connect and inspire.
